Grand Central Station
rating : 4.0
description :
50 minutes by boat from the JMC centre. A drift dive starting at 20 metres on a vertical wall falling into the abyss. The first twenty minutes of the dive take place between 25 and 30 metres. The fauna consists mainly of schools of jacks, barracudas and tunas. Five sharks, three large greys and two white tips can be seen in the blue. We then climb up to a large sandy plateau with 5 pinnacles ranging from 20 to 5 metres, covered in coral and home to a large number of reef fish.

The same wall as at the previous site. In the blue, you can see several grey sharks, schools of barracudas, jacks and tunas. A manta ray, at a depth of 20 metres, swims nearby and we can follow it for a short while. We then climb up onto a sandy plateau. Half a dozen rocky peaks are home to a rich reef fauna and beautiful coral. Two peaks are linked by a 5 metre high arch. We saw a leaf fish and a one-centimetre pygmy seahorse. Extraordinary dive.

50 minutes by boat, close to Namenalala Island. The dive starts at the "Grand Central Station" site where we follow the wall more quickly to pass the first plateau of the "GCS" site and arrive on a second plateau at a depth of around 35 metres. The plateau has large rocky masses with beautiful corals. The fauna is dense and varied. Schools of barracudas, jacks and tuna moved between the rocky masses. We saw around ten grey sharks, one of which was particularly huge.

This is the furthest site from the "Jean-Michel Cousteau" centre, more than 50 minutes by speedboat equipped with 2 250 hp engines. The dive is a drift along a wall that is sometimes vertical, sometimes gently sloping. The first part of the dive is between 28 and 15 metres. You pass through areas littered with dead corals, followed by areas rich in soft and hard corals. The fauna becomes much more abundant between 12 and 5 metres. We saw 5 sharks, including 2 rather imposing grey reef sharks. One of them passed very close to us in a worrying manner. We also saw 2 large turtles.

Three minutes from Namenalala Island. Two rocky peaks on sandy ground. The dive starts on the first at 5 metres. You can dive around it down to 22 metres, but its base is at 35 metres. The entire surface is covered in magnificent coral. It's full of fish, with an incredible concentration of juveniles in the last three metres. We visited the 2nd peak, which has similar characteristics, from bottom to top. We saw an imposing nurse shark between the peaks.

Alice in Wonderland
rating : 3.0
description :
A floor covered with dead coral between 12 and 17 metres shelters large mushroom-shaped spuds over 3 metres long, entirely covered with soft and hard corals. The usual reef fauna is very dense here. Some of these spuds have cavities at their base, where small white-tip sharks permanently nest. Colonies of lobsters could be seen in some of the niches. We also saw two large octopuses.

10 minutes by boat from the centre. Plateau at 8 metres, gently sloping down to a break at around 20 metres, then a steeper slope. The floor is covered with dead coral from 12 - 15 metres, over which small hard and soft corals grow. Higher up, at a depth of around 10 metres, there are huge 'brain' corals, two to three metres long. Juvenile white tip corals can be found in the cavities of some of the sponges. We saw a large white tip and two enormous octopuses.

Hole in The Wall
rating : 2.0
description :
15 minutes by boat. Vertical wall from 5 to over 60 metres. The wall is home to giant gorgonians. After a quarter of an hour, we reach a plateau at around 30 metres. Nothing special to see. Not much fish life, few corals on a maze of rocks. We saw 2 whitetip sharks and 4 large barracudas in the blue.

Mistery Reef
rating : 2.0
description :
Isolated reef ten minutes from the centre. The dive takes place between 5 and 20 metres. It began with a visit to two peaks between 5 and 10 metres, well stocked with coral, but with few fish. A veritable field of soft corals, more like a seagrass bed, covers the ground as far as the eye can see. The most important part is during the ascent, where at around 10 metres and down to 5 metres there are a multitude of patates richly endowed with multicoloured corals, where a mass of juveniles are evolving. We saw a large turtle feeding in the sea grass for a long time.
