rating : 4.0
depth : 25 m
visibility : 10-20 m
description :
South of Tatawa Island, a small rock emerges 5 metres above sea level. Part of it forms a 30-metre wall containing small caves and passageways. The rest is made up of more or less steep slopes ending in the sand at around 40 m. All extremely rich in multicolored corals of great variety. It gives the impression of a veritable underwater garden. The fauna is varied and omnipresent. Schools of large fish such as butterflies, platax, surgeonfish, triggerfish and lutefishes. We also saw a turtle. An excellent site for snorkeling, provided the current is not too strong.

Crystal Rock West
[(Komodo)]
rating : 4.0
depth : 25 m
visibility : 10 m
description :
Rock rising out of the water to a height of 3 meters. Very strong current. On one side of the rock, a gentle slope descending to sand at over 70 m. On the other, a wall. All lined with coral. The fauna is particularly abundant; especially the large specimens, which move in tight schools, giving the appearance of dark clouds. This was obvious to the surgeons, who were blue-black in color. Schools of butterflies and angelfish sometimes mingled with a large colony of fusillers. We also saw a white-tip shark, a moray eel swimming in open water, a nice-sized turtle and a humphead wrasse. Numerous huge groupers, schools of lutefish and juvenile emperor angelfish.

A wall that turns into a slope, covered in coral. We finish the dive on a magnificent coral plateau - beautiful corals, in a particularly fishy environment: giant sweetlips, schooling jacks, 1 large humpback parrotfish. All the reef fish in schools, more numerous on the plateau. The water is 30°!

Crystal Rock
[(Komodo)]
rating : 3.5
depth : 25 m
visibility : 15 m
description :
Rock emerging from the water, covered with coral below the surface. From 30 meters, the landscape changes to a sandy slope. The plateau between 4-10 meters is covered with soft and hard corals. All species are represented here, as are the reef fish. The plateau is perfect for a safety stop, making diving very easy, an impression accentuated by the 29° water temperature, with cooler currents in places. Seen: a baby shark, under a coral table, 1 giant moray (green), nudibranchs, 3 medium-sized scorpions, huge diodons. As everywhere in Komodo, the site is full of fish and incredibly varied in coral species. Very good snorkeling.

Batu Bolong
[(Komodo)]
rating : 3.5
description :
Rock emerging from the water. On one side, a wall, on the other, a slightly gentler slope covered with coral. Sandy bottom at 30 meters. We dive up the slope from 28 to 5 meters, zigzagging to avoid the current (which can be on either side of the rock). Seen: large napoleons, a white tip shark, 1 turtle, nudibranchs, flat worms, a green moray eel, a small scorpion fish, and giant trevally. And, of course, the usual schools of fish that are a pleasure to watch. Beautiful corals.

description :
Descent into open water down to 25 meters on a stony bottom. The current is very strong and, as a result, the floor is littered with dead coral. Visibility is reduced to 10 meters. Logically, the mantas had to be there, and they were! Two fine specimens at the start of the dive, three more during the stop at 5 meters. We also saw 2 moray eels.

Shore Dive Angel Island
[(Bidadari Island)]
rating : 2.5
depth : 15 m
visibility : 8 m

Dive carried out between 5 and 6 pm, starting from the beach. First coral field at 5 meters in a potato patch. Sometimes the corals cover a larger area. There are numerous cavities of varying dimensions (from 1 to 4 meters), making this an interesting site, all the more so as it shelters a varied and fairly dense fauna.

Muck diving takes place entirely on a sandy bottom strewn with seaweed. Nose to the ground, looking for anything tiny. Not very interesting unless you have a particular passion for this kind of diving. Among what was observed: a juvenile black ribbon eel, 3 cuttlefish, a Ceratosoma nudibranch, a thorn-back cowfish, a 5 mm juvenile sweetlips, a barramundi cod juvenile (white with black spots), 2 pipefish, 3-5 mm coral shrimps.
