Sinces trains are usually packed, bicycles are really a convenient way to go around... for small distances, at least! In fact, among industrial countries, there is in Japan one of the highest rate of bicycles per inhibitants. This requires quite an organisation, especially around the train station, where everybody wants to leave his bicycle. Huge parking can be found almost everywhere, like this one in Kawagoe.
In many areas, bicycles can not be parked, like in front of the train station's exit, and signals remind that to the users. But this regulation is barely followed by Japanese... |
